Welcome Information – Short Term Programs

Welcome to Own Body Mobile Health Services!

Thank you for choosing us to support you in the comfort of your own home.

We are proud to offer personalised Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Podiatry services, delivered by experienced clinicians who are passionate about helping you feel better, move better and stay independent.

At Own Body, we’re more than just a healthcare provider. Our team is built on five key values:

  • Connection – We take the time to get to know you
  • Holistic – We treat you as a whole person, not just a condition
  • Enablement – We give you the tools to take control of your health
  • Experience – We only hire experienced clinicians (no new grads) and our team strive to provide a POSITIVE experience at every turn
  • Remarkable People – We only work with Remarkable People – those who genuinely care and go the extra mile. We never tire of phone calls from clients and referrers ‘remarking’ on our wonderful team

What happens now?

Your therapist will be in touch shortly (if they haven’t already) to arrange your first appointment.

At your first visit, they will:

  • Talk through your medical history and what you want to work towards
  • Discuss your referral and how it aligns with your own goals
  • Review any relevant letters or reports from other healthcare professionals (please have these handy)
  • Provide tailored advice, treatment and/or exercises to get you started

We believe in empowering you – so your treatment plan will be built with you, around your goals and updated as your needs evolve.

Who pays for my services?

Unless otherwise discussed, an initial number of services will be covered by your referrer. You may be personally liable for any cancellation fees, depending on your individual agreement with the organisation funding these services.

Many clients choose to engage our services beyond the funding period to continue their rehabilitation with their trusted clinician in the comfort of their own home

You can review our fees here, or email or call us to discuss this option.

What's unique about a mobile service?

We know from 15+ years of experience (and volumes of research) that people recover better at home. Our clients report they are more comfortable, in control of their treatment feel better understood by our clinicians. Not to mention the time and effort saved getting to and from appointments – you can get on with your life while we do the driving!

We will confirm your appointment time at least 1 day prior. If we’re running more than 15 minutes late or early (due to traffic, cancellations or emergencies), we will call to let you know.

To make the most of our clinician’s time and reach as many people as possible, we group clients by location and use the most efficient routes when we plan our days. This may mean your preferred time isn’t always available and we thank you in advance for your understanding.

Your Privacy, Terms & Conditions

Your clinician will provide a form to your first appointment, for you to read and sign, that covers our Privacy and Cancellation Policy.

To save time on the day, you can read this in advance by clicking here. This allows us to spend more of your appointment time addressing what is most important to you.

Where appropriate and with your consent, we will correspond with your trusted health care professionals. We will ask you to confirm that you agree to this when we review this form. Our Privacy Policy is also available here

NOTE: Appointments cancelled with short notice can rarely be filled due to the mobile nature of our service, so please be aware of our strict cancellation policy.

Physiotherapy Services

We focus on rehabilitation, education, enablement and exercise to address your goal

For safety and effectiveness, we don’t bring massage tables or use electrotherapy equipment. This means we don’t treat areas like your back or pelvis that require specialised manual therapy (hands on treatment) – but we will give you practical strategies to help you stay active, strong and confident, or refer you to a local clinic if that is more appropriate for your needs.

Occupational Therapy Services

Most of our clients engage our OT service to assist with equipment or modifications at home, or assist with skill development or education, to help them thrive at home as independently as possible. Your OT will discuss your specific goals, restrictions and review any areas of concern in your home in order to provide recommendations.

We request that the following are prepared ahead of our visits:

  • A footstool or similar for you to rest your feet on during the sessions
  • Clean linen (towels) for the Podiatrist to use while providing nail care
  • Nail polish is removed

It is important that you let our team know if you are on blood thinning medication at any point in our treatment.
