What is Podiatry?

Podiatrists are university-trained experts in the foot and lower limb (foot, ankle, and leg). They work with the whole body from the foot’s perspective upwards to help prevent, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

Our Podiatrists regularly undertake further courses to enhance and develop an ever-expanding skill set best suited to aid our clients in achieving their goals in the comfort of their own homes.

Answering common questions about podiatry. If you have more questions about podiatry, please send us a message.
No! Podiatrists are ‘primary care practitioners’, which means no referral is needed.

You may be eligible for a GPMP (GP Management Plan) which entitles you to a rebate of around $55 for the first 5 sessions. (Click here or speak with your GP for more information). We are not a bulk billing practice.

At Own Body we assess and treat a wide array of skin and nail conditions.

We aim to help get you pain-free and back on your feet in no time. We use sterilised instruments to provide all the care you deserve and leave you walking out the door feeling lighter!

If for any reason, we are unable to assist you in our capacity we will be happy to refer you to a relevant specialist for further assistance.

Conditions we treat include:

  • Thickened nails
  • Ingrown nails
  • Elongated nails
  • Fungal nails
  • Traumatised nails
  • Corns
  • Callous
  • Skin cracks
  • Plantar Warts
  • Tinea Pedis
  • Blisters
  • Chilblains
Your feet act as the shock absorbers of your body and may sometimes feel painful, stiff or uncomfortable. A Podiatrist will help diagnose and treat issues and conditions relating to your lower leg, ankle, heel, arch, toes and toenails.
For most people, an annual visit to the Podiatrist to check in on your foot health should suffice. However, for those suffering from diabetes Type 1 and 2 who require assistance for general foot and nail care or other foot issues, more regular appointments are recommended.
