Peter Parks | Own Body Physiotherapist

Peter Parks

Physiotherapist

Peter has nearly 25 years of experience as a Physiotherapist. Over his career he has worked with a wide range of Physiotherapy clients. Initially with a strong interest in sports, he worked with a variety of sports teams and private practices before travelling parts of the world, including living and working as a physiotherapist in the UK for 3 years. On his return to Australia, rehabilitation became his focus. His roles within rehabilitation over the last 20 years include post operative care, multi trauma, acquired brain injury, movement disorder clinics, hydrotherapy, geriatric rehab, transition care, outpatients and community care as well as some work in Aged Care settings. The last 3 years, Peter has found a passion for Pain Management, working closely with Psychologists within Pain Management Clinics. This also led to him volunteering to be part of the Inaugural Pain Revolution bike ride in 2017 where a group of like minded clinicians and researches cycled from Melbourne to Adelaide. This physical challenge was combined with nightly education and information seminars to rural communities to increase the knowledge of the best ways to manage and recover from persistent pain. He prides himself on his ability to encourage his clients to restore confidence in their body and ensures goals are client driven and treatments are goal focused.

Outside of Physio, Peter keeps active with bike riding, running and keeping up with his kids. He has done many of the big alpine climbs on his bike including the Audax 200km although spends more time on the indoor trainer now. He is a regular at Parkruns and a member of both Hobson’s Bay Running Club and Williamstown Athletic Club. His priority in life is his family; valuing, above all else, spending time with his wife and their twin 11 yr old boys and 6 year old girl.
